I cannot get the rig to talk to the computer, I cannot get the rig to talk to the computer, IC-7100 seems like a good bet, if you can figure out a way to mount the head unit. Its form factor is kind of odd, but it’s a direct competitor for the FT-857. Yaesu FT-991A kinda pricey. An alternative is Icom IC-7100 if you can find a way to mount the odd control head or the Icom MBF-1 mount will work.
9/8/2020 · With the FT -857D discontinued, and the IC-705 released now it seems Yaesu must be working on a new all band Mobile. While Yaesu reps I have talked to say they do not know about new releases until they are announced officially, some other hams have rumored they were told a new multi-band Mobile was in the works.
5/9/2013 · I also found that two different RF output transistors were used with this radio (2SC3102 and RD70HVF1) and the circuit design was different for each. Luckily the FT -857D is very easy to open, so I pulled the top off and pulled the bottom case off and found that the final output transistor is easy to get to. (It is on the bottom.), 4/2/2020 · In December I noticed that HRO had moved the FT -857D into the Discontinued List. Today I checked and the major sellers in the US (HRO, Gigaparts, DX Engineering, etc.) are all showing out of stock. Yaesu had a great run with this radio and I have sure enjoyed mine since 2004. So I wonder what Yaesu will replace it with?, I’ve had my original FT -857D since January 2007 since first licensed, currently installed in my car. It’s a great performer. I have also an ATAS-120A bought at the same time and am running through a BHI NES 10-2 Mk 2 speaker. The whole setup is the perfect mobile.
5/27/2010 · An alternative TX ground for FT-897D. Just in case you need a TX ground to operate your linear and the CAT/LIN connector is engaged in CAT position (Menu 020). That was exactly my complain with this Yaesu transceiver! I prefer to use CAT commands to manage all transceiver operations from my computer especially when I operate the digital modes.

7/4/2015 · While chirp is open source and free. The RTSystems is the programming software that I used. While a bit pricey the RTSystems software makes programing a radio. In my case the TYT TH-9800+ which has the same features as the Yaesu 8900 plus a few more. I.
